Samsung Galaxy S 2The Samsung Galaxy SII might have been super-ceded by the SG3, SG4 and beyond but the fact still remains, it's a fantastic smartphone that can still stand proud as a contender in today's market. It was launched in 2011 and even now it still has a vast selection of technology that is similar to the most recent releases, except, now that demand has dropped slightly it means you can get some great Samsung Galaxy SII deals.

It runs on the 2G and 3G network as well as WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and WiFi Hotspot. There is a mini SIM and microSD card that gives an additional option of 32GB of memory. The dimensions of the SG2 is 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5mm which is a great size for portability and usability. It weighs just 116 grams so it's far lighter than recent efforts from Samsung and other manufacturers.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 was all about the screen. It has the Super AMOLED Plus screen that is capacitive and features 16 million colours. It is 4.3" in size and it has 480 x 800 pixel resolution with a 217 ppi. There is multi-touch functionality and it's protected by the ever-faithful Corning Gorilla Glass. It runs on Google Android Jelly Bean operating system with TouchWiz 4.0 UI. There is a 3.5mm jack for your headphones, loudspeaker and you can choose vibrating alert as well as WAV or MP3 ringtones.

The SG2 has 1GB RAM that is where the power comes from when using various apps at the same time, and there is Bluetooth 3.0. You can connect to another HD device using the streaming method thanks to it being DNLA certified. USB on the go and high-speed MHL USB 2.0 is also available and lets you connect and charge the phone at greater speed than before. There is a stunning camera that comes with the Galaxy SII that is 8MP and runs at 3264 x 2448 resolution, and has LED flash, autofocus, tap to focus, geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection as well as image stabilisation.

There is a 1080p HD video camera with 2MP secondary camera. The video camera can snap fast-moving images as it runs at 30 frames per second. The chipset is the fantastic Exynos, but the main feature you'll want to know about is the dual-core 1.2GHz Cortex A9 chip with Mali 400MP graphics chip. The SG2 comes with compass, proximity, gyro and accelerometer sensors. Messaging is taken care of by threaded view SMS, MMS, Email, Push Email, RSS and Instant Messaging.

Listen to your favourite radio stations with the RDS FM radio, and enjoy clearer sounds with active noise cancellation with a dedicated mic. The 1650mAh battery gives you up to 710 hours on 2G or 610 hours on 3G for standby time, 18 hours and 20 minutes on 2G or 8 hours and 40 minutes on 3G for talk time, and up to 45 hours of music playback.
