The Link have been going through a bit of turmoil recently, with the selling off of all their stores to o2, and migrating to an internet-only business.
They’ve recently re-vamped their website, hoping to make more sales. However, I just wish they’d spend their time ensuring that customers are not lied to. Take for example their T-Mobile Flext offerings.
Their Motorola Z3 (RIZR) “Best Deal” offering shows that on the Flext 35 (12 month) contract you can get 600 minutes and 1200 texts. But - this isn’t so - if you used only minutes you could get 600 as part of your £60 allowance, which equates to 1200 texts. Luckily, we here at the Mobile Phone Checker try to give you honest information, tailering the Flext tariffs against your needs.
You wonder why people get so confused when they try to compare the market?
Three are moving towards flexible tariffs, akin to T-Mobile’s Flext, which’ll be launching on Monday. Therefore, there’s only a couple of days left if you want to take advantage of their current price plans. We’ll try and be hot on the heals of the release to provide a comparison service that encompasses the flexible nature of this tariff.
Details are below:
“We’re introducing tariffs which challenge the market norms - revolutionary flexible price plans. Mix & Match tariffs will give customers the choice of our flat rate price plans with the option to add as many minutes and texts as they like each month. We’re keeping things simple so 1 text = 1 minute.
Our new tariffs also make top-end handsets available to everyone with our new Video Packs. Customers buy a video bundle with their new handset and this is added to their price plan every month. This means that they can actually choose the handset they want without being tied into a price plan they don’t like.
How it works.
There are seven tariffs which start at £15 and end at £27, the tariffs increase in £3 increments. The £15 tariff offers 300 minutes or texts or any mix of the two. And each tariff increases by 200 minutes with the great flexible options since they can move up or down by £3 whenever they choose.
1 text = 1 minute on all the tariffs. And we’ve made sure that customers can rest easy because the out of bundle charges are simply 12p for both voice and texts.”
This will see Three compete directly with T-Mobile’s Flext contract offerings - hopefully this type of contract will force operators to provide value for money contracts to all.
Are we crazy? What type of business model is this?
Well, we’re just trying to be honest here. Whilst we’d love you to purchase a contract phone through our service (as we make a few pounds for each mobile contract sold), sometimes it isn’t the best value for our customers.
If you already have a mobile phone contract, you will have experienced the playground fun of the ‘retentions team’, those people who try their best to keep you for the next year or 18 months. By using the information on the Mobile Phone Checker, you are able to bargain your way to a superb deal by quoting what other networks or retailers can offer you.
However, if you can’t get anything better than what’s listed here, by all means, buy through us!
Wow - what a busy six months! The Mobile Phone Checker started as a resolution to the question - “what’s the best mobile phone contract for me to get?”. The problem is that spending hours wading through the various online retailer websites, comparison services, and local stores just leaves you feeling disappointed and downbeat. What can’t it be easier for consumers to make a choice?
So, what we have here is the Mobile Phone Checker - a service that collates over 30,000 mobile phone deals from 15 or so established retailers/network providers - giving you a single store of data to enable you to make an informed choice.
The Mobile Phone Checker is just a single web page - none of this fancy “I’ll show you what I think you need-type user flows” - just select what you require from your contract - perhaps a particular handset, or a number of minutes on your favourite network, and you’ll get a list of deals available for you to take advantage of.
So - please - give it a go, and let us know what you think - we’ll be enhancing the service over the following six months to make an ever better experience - just e-mail us @ mail@mobilephonechecker.co.uk
