Nokia’s sales have been dwindling since Apple and Samsung grabbed the marketplace with both hands. Therefore, to try and regain some customers the Finnish company has been testing their new 41MP camera in India and Russia to see what the draw to it is. If Nokia goes ahead and releases it to more markets it will comfortably be the most Incredible camera we’ve ever seen in a smartphone.

Thanks to Carl Zeiss optics and the ability to merge 7 pixels into 1, it means that it’s up there with DSLR cameras for clarity and crispness. The second best smartphone camera is that of the Xperia S which features a 12.1MP camera and most other competitors make do with 5 or 8MP. The super-sharp images that can be taken are surprisingly not shown very well on the 4” screen as it only has 360 x 630 pixel resolution but as soon as you put the images on an HD TV or on your laptop they pop with colour and sharpness. You can, however, zoom and edit the image on the phone which is quite cool to tidy up some images.

The Pureview 808 as it’s being hailed is claimed to be fantastic in low-level light, something that all smartphones struggle with even if they have an LED flash. As Nokia only sold 3 million handsets last year compared to 37 million that the iPhone did, there has to be another way into the market and Nokia is opting for the camera route. As other manufacturers choose audio or gaming or indeed processor speed, the Finnish company has gone for the imaging sector. What is very strange and it seems completely out of kilter when you hear about the camera, the phone itself only has the Symbian (Belle) platform, which isn’t even made any more! This is a strange move by the bosses at Nokia but with that camera lens being such a daring effort there had to be cut backs elsewhere.

So, if you have a smartphone right now and you don’t use it a great deal for apps or sap the power from using all of the tricks and trademarks that they’re known for but you love photography then the 41megapixel Nokia Pureview 808 could well fit the bill. It has 16GB of internal storage which is superb compared to the competition and that can be upped a further 32GB with a microSD card. That means you can hold those larger files of the images and videos that you take. The phone manages well with its 1.3GHz processor and 512MB RAM but with a three billion Euro deficit to catch up on last year’s sales it’s a tall order for the company and a risky push to drive more sales. If it’s received well in the Russian and Indian markets we could well see it on our shelves here in the UK and Mobile Phone Checker will be first to show you the best deals for it if you want One.

Launched as HTC’s cheapest smartphone the Wildfire really has been burning like Wildfire. It’s not only a very elegant looking phone but it’s filled with technology that really shouldn’t be in there at this price. It has a stunning TFT capacitive 3.2” touchscreen that is super-high quality and belittles the competition at the same price bracket. It features 320 x 480 pixel resolution and has 256 colour combinations. The screen quality is being mentioned first as it truly is special and is light-years ahead of similar priced models.

There are four sensitive touch controls that are easy to use and simply to navigate around the home screen. There really is no point in having so much technology that is impossible to get around. The aesthetics and the usability has had some serious thought gone into it that the Wildfire S is very smart. Arriving onto the scene is the 2.3 Android operating system that has been accepted by many manufacturers in this level of smartphone and is more than capable of running some serious applications and features without problem. The user interface is simple and easy for even the most novice of users.

The 5 megapixel camera is more than adequate for every day shooting and filming. There is a video recorder that runs in HD and fires at 24 frames per second. Recording wise, it runs at 30fps. It’s a multifunctional and multitasking phone that has been created to make your life easier not harder. It’s very pretty to look at and if Samsung didn’t have a chokehold on the marketplace then the HTC brand would be even more popular than it is right now. There are 2G and 3G networks available as well as ultra-fast Internet from the Wi-Fi connection. There is A-GPS that allows you to use it as a satellite navigation system for getting around with ease. There is also a bunch of multimedia players and formats that are accessible by the phone which makes it perfect for social duties.

It’s not the fastest smartphone out there but in its price bracket 600MHz is more than enough. If you’re unfamiliar with the ultra-fast smartphones then you won’t notice the difference in speed. It has 512MB of RAM that is perfectly capable of running apps but will struggle if you really push it. The 1230mAh is a surprisingly large capacity at this level and makes it last for a very long time without needing to carry around the charger, which is the bane of many a smartphone.

One area that the HTC Wildfire stands out is the ability to Mix and combine email accounts together so you can have a centralised account so you never miss a message. You can personalise it to your tastes and it has a range of features that makes it more than just a budget smartphone that really make your ears prick up. To find out more, check out the latest prices for the contract HTC Wildfire and the PAYG versions from the top UK suppliers.

It’s hard to ignore the stunning iPhone 4S’s success. You’ve either got One or you’re not far away from One. Your friends and family probably have One and your colleagues will encourage you to get One. If you’ve been waiting patiently for your mobile phone contract to end since the 4S’s launch last October, then you’re in for a treat. As the iPhone 5 is due out later this year it’s having a dramatic effect on the price of a white iPhone 4S or a black One, as retailers try and shift more handsets to make way for the new iPhone. That means that there are clearance sales and you can see more of them at Mobile Phone Checker; which compares the best deals around both for PAYG SIM cards and mobile phone contracts.

Here in the UK, we go against the grain as uSwitch has found we love the iPhone 4S more than any other phone. As Samsung is taking the world by storm with the Galaxy range pulling in more than 5 million sales a month, Britain has decided that Apple’s flagship model is their preference. The Galaxy S2 was number One for some time but now plays second fiddle to the Apple. However, that could well change with the Samsung Galaxy S3 on its way.

It’s an exciting time for smartphone buyers as we still don’t really know the full extent of the specification sheet of either new phone and will have to wait and see which One pushes the boundaries of technology the most. At the moment, rumours state that the Galaxy S3 will have a 4.8” screen – dubbed a ‘phablet’ or hybrid phone and tablet – and will have a quad-core processor and HD display. The US are said to not get the quad-core processor as it isn’t yet compatible with 4G, which means for once as the UK is behind the rest of the world with Internet connections it’s actually a good thing!

The Galaxy, it seems, simply cannot push the funkier iPhone 4S off the top spot. The Siri voice activation feature means that drivers up and down the country can send emails and messages without taking their hand off the wheel as ‘she’ is so intuitive and can perform a myriad of tasks without you needing to touch its glass screen.

We will find out about the Galaxy S3 soon and the iPhone 5 later in the year but even with strong efforts from Nokia, HTC and Motorola it seems the top two smartphone producers in the world are going to be so difficult to topple of their mantle. Since the iPhone 4S has been available in white and black, and white is the ‘in’ colour it seems the grey/black plastic and glass of the Galaxy has fallen by the wayside. The offering from Apple just seems to ‘fit’ our funkier lifestyle better and ever-since the first iPhone hit the UK’s shelves the buzz hasn’t really slowed and it’s why the iPhone 5 is bound to be a hit.

Since its launch, the quad-core 1.5GHz processor in the HTC One X remains the most powerful on the market today. It’s slowly being caught up by other smartphones and there are rumours of 2GHz phones hitting the shelves soon, but at the moment the limelight is certainly with the X. Continue reading →

Since its launch, the quad-core 1.5GHz processor in the HTC One X remains the most powerful on the market today. It’s slowly being caught up by other smartphones and there are rumours of 2GHz phones hitting the shelves soon, but at the moment the limelight is certainly with the X. If there was no such thing as the iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy SII then the most popular smartphone would be the HTC One X, without a doubt.

Unfortunately for HTC, those competitor companies have the market licked and their advertising spot on to draw millions of new customers each month. However, being third in a competitive market is no mean feat. HTC has been fairly quiet and watched other smartphone makers try and fail, so that’s why the HTC One series phones are beautifully created and have huge amounts of tech packed into their sleek cases.

The quad core processor is something else. They run independently of each other and thanks to the 1,800mAh battery it can handle the extra juice needed to run each One. And, the processor is made by Nvidia; arguably the most popular and advanced gaming processor company out there right now. So, you know that your new HTC One X will work perfectly well from other reliable phones already out there, and it will be ultra-quick and have zero lag from the stunning processor and the wealth of memory that goes with it. The 1GB of RAM is backed up by 32GB of storage and there is a 25GB online storage from HTC for the next two years, which is really cool for keeping non-essential big files to hand.

Camera-wise, there is an 8 megapixel camera at the rear and a 1080p HD video recorder. The front camera is 1.3 megapixels and is more than adequate for video calls. Remember, those cores in the processor means you can perform a myriad of tasks without the phone stuttering or hanging, so you could video call someone while browsing the Internet and other things at the same time.

At 130g it’s not the weightiest of the smartphones but it has a solid enough feel. There is a AMOLED touchscreen that is backed by the PUREVIEW technology that adds 23% more pixels into the Mix, so the screen quality is perfect. Add to that Dr Dre’s Beats Audio and you have a full media ready smartphone that is so cool and up to date that you simply cannot ignore that this is a real contender against Apple and Samsung’s flagship models.

What’s more the HTC One X is fairly cheap compared to the Galaxy range. You can test to see which retailer and network has the best deals on the X from the Mobile Phone Checker contract comparison. Depending on how much you call or text, you can pick and choose the factors from the list of suppliers so you know you’re getting the best package for your requirements and at a price that suits.

SW-Box.com, the component vendor, has shown the latest pictures of what is most-likely to be the iPhone 5’s SIM tray. Similar to the 4 and 4S tray it gives the rumours some weight of the iPhone 5 being the same or similarly designed to that of previous generation iPhones. While that’s not bad news as the iPhone 4 and 4S are very special phones it seems that the upgrades will all be internal. Continue reading →

The new handset is due to hit the shelves in October this year and Mobile Phone Checker will be the place to come to for iPhone 5 deals as the best priced retailers will be shown on the comparison engine. The leaked pictures of the SIM tray means that the new nano-SIM card that Apple have been developing will not be seen on the next iPhone. It’s a difficult piece of evidence for Apple to reject as their suppliers have leaked the photos of the new tray. As the photos suggest there is a flat leading edge which means that the current 4S body will be used. If it had a Curve to it then that would indicate there would be a design change.

Just as when the iPhone 4S was released customers were hoping for a complete redesign but Apple seems to be squeezing every last ounce of profit out of the casings for the upcoming handset. There are rumours of a dual core processor as well as a 8 or 12 megapixel camera as well as Near Field Communication. Launching the latter will depend on retailers and the amount of use it has at the end of the year. The NFC technology might be held back until it’s more widespread across the world, however.

Customers are already champing at the bit to be the first to put their names down for an iPhone 5. On the Mobile Phone Checker website there iPhone 5 deals will be announced closer to the time as retailers start to jostle for position. So, when the time comes don’t forget to compare prices as there is always a premium to pay on new Apple products. And, as it will be close to the festive season you don’t want to have no money – but a shiny new phone – when Christmas comes. So, when it is time for your new mobile phone contract compare the best deals from the top UK networks for the latest of Apple’s stunning products.

With previous successes of the iPhone 3, 4 and 4S as well as the iPad variants, the new iPhone 5 will no doubt be a total success. We will have to wait and see but for now, we can only check out the rumours and see what it is likely to be. Will we see an iPhone 6 or will Apple change the name and completely change the design, especially as the nano-SIM cards will be ready to install into small, lighter phones then?

The latest line of HTC’s handsets are called the One series. Not only do they spark the attention of techno-geeks but style fashionistas too. The sleek phone is a smoothed and rounded-off glass tablet that is simply divine. It takes the iPhone 4S and the Galaxy S for a ride and not only that but it’s jam-packed with technology that will blow you away.

In the past few years the market has been dominated by Samsung and Apple, but HTC want more of a slice of the pie. The One series is primed and ready to take charge of third place. Although the Sony Xperia S and the Nokia Lumia range are battling for the same position HTC has thrown everything possible at the One such as the Ice Cream Sandwich OS from Android and it has a 4. 7” high-resolution touchscreen that is capable of HD 1080p videos! The camera is an 8 megapixel unit that only the Xperia S beats in terms of performance, but the processor speed and memory capacity on the One really backs up the technology so it’s usable.

That’s the difference between some phones and the HTC. It’s usable, friendly and easy to navigate around. It complements the technology with its stunning looks, which is bound to draw so many customers to it. There are some fantastic deals on the HTC One S from Mobile Phone Checker as the comparison chart details where the best prices are from the best retailer at the time. This changes often so it’s a good idea to keep checking so you can get the best price.

The One S is slightly overshadowed by the One X, which boasts a quad-core processor and is the top of the HTC range. Pitched at the iPhone 4S and the Galaxy S, it was a big ask but HTC hasn’t embarrassed itself. The whole of the One range are very smart and are very similar to Samsung phones in many ways. It all really depends on your preferences. If you simply cannot ignore the Galaxy range then go for it, but if you want to be just that little bit different although still have stunning amounts of technology and gizmos to play with then the HTC One S could be right up your street.

HTC build no-nonsense smartphones that run on the Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 Android operating system. It’s bolstered with a fantastic amount of memory and the camera and video camera both match that of the Apple. There is however a few nuances where the Samsung beats the HTC but in reality many people that own a smartphone want something that looks funky, smart and elegant as well as can do a myriad of tasks. Whether they use them all is another question. The Samsung range is really for people that want to show off and have technology spilling over the sides, whereas the HTC is a little more understated and yet still has a decent range of tech that equals the Galaxy phones.

We all remember the original Razr phone from Motorola as it was wafer-thin and sold like hot-cakes. It is due to reemerge soon to take on the soon-to-be launched Samsung Galaxy S3. As the S3 is due to be launched, or at least have the date announced on the 3rd May, Motorola is battling hard to hit the market with their new phone. The new MT887 model will run on the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and will be void of any hardware buttons, so it will have a large touchscreen only.

The expected specifications are a dual core 1.2GHz processor, a 4.3” display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, 4GB of on-board storage and 1GB of RAM. There will be TD SCDMA and GSM connectivity as well as a 3,300mAh battery and an 8 megapixel camera. They’re pretty impressive stats although it will have to be fantastic if it wants to steal Galaxy S3 customers who are already salivating at the thought of a quad-core processor.

As the Motorola Razr will have a dual-core processor, rumours have been flying around saying that the Droid Razr will be playing second fiddle to an even better Motorola phone which will use the Razr as a test bed to see how the market reacts. As Apple and Samsung have the marketplace in a stronghold smartphone manufacturers are being very careful to spill too much money into their projects and this is a safer way for Motorola not to make a huge embarrassment. However, with stats like that it’s hard to believe that the new Razr will be anything less of a success.

The future Razr might have a faster processor, less on-board storage but a microSD slot, more RAM and a better camera but sales will tell the story to see if it’s worth funding a new project. What this means for existing Motorola phones is that the company usually drops the price of existing ones to encourage the brand to bring sales and then launch the new phone which will have a premium price tag.

Rumour says that the new Droid Razr will be launched in between the HTC One X and the Samsung Galaxy S3 to cause a problem in the smartphone world. It’s a brave decision but it’s certainly One that could steal the show as many people are starting to wane at the similarity of the Galaxy range and HTC are also very similar to the Galaxy but sales figures for the latter are much slower than Samsung’s.

We’ll have to wait and see what to expect from Motorola but from past phones it’s sure to be impressive and it will not only perform well with stats like those, but as it’s a Razr it will look futuristic and will have slick looks that will draw the attention of stylish customers. Of course, Mobile Phone Checker will be first to show the best deals on the Razr when it is launched and you will be able to pick the best supplier with the best price.

HTC have it rough at the moment. Samsung are selling five million units a month and Apple are a strong favourite if Samsung’s Galaxy range aren’t your cup of tea. Where does that leave HTC? In a lowly third place and being bombarded by Nokias to make things worse. The thing is the HTC Desire is a fantastic phone and isn’t too far away from Samsung’s Galaxy phones. It brings with it the stunning Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz processor as well as touch screen technology, 3G and a high-resolution camera. For style-mongers, it’s also available in white!

As it’s been out for a while it’s actually a great time to buy an HTC Desire S as there are many clearance sales by networks and retailers. For the best prices on PAYG SIM cards and mobile phone contracts, you can check out the HTC Desire on Mobile Phone Checker and see who has the best prices at any given time.

At 3. 7” the AMOLED capacitive touchscreen is pretty much the perfect size. It has 16 million colours and a 480 x 800 pixel screen resolution, which isn’t too far different to the iPhone 4S! There is a multi-touch screen as well as auto-rotate, an accelerometer sensor and proximity sensor with auto-turn off. Where the HTC Desire really shines is with the social aspect of things, which most people use their smartphones for. There is autofocus, geo-tagging, an LED flash and superb quality photos delivered by the 5 megapixel camera. There is a WVGA video camera which runs at 720p and 30fps. There is also an FM radio with RDS and it can host a lot of music formats too.

There is a whole host of Internet browsing connections such as EDGE 3H, HSUPA, HSDPA and GPRS as well as Wi-Fi. As it runs in the on Android platform the apps that are included already include Gmail, Google Talk, YouTube, Picasa and Google Search. A digital compass and A-GPS support is handy when you’re lost and USB and Bluetooth connections help you connect to devices.

It’s really a fine specimen and if you’re sick of seeing iPhone 4S phones around and want to be a little different then the Galaxy range has a worthy competitor in the HTC Desire. Whether people can see past the stunning Samsung range or indeed the hyped-up iPhone market is another story. However, if you like a smart looking phone that has everything you could ever want on it that is slightly different to your friend’s phones then the HTC Desire is certainly something you could Desire!

The HTC Desire HD is another step above the Desire as it has a faster processor that runs at 1.5GHz and can be fitted with a 32GB microSD card. It features everything the Desire does but with more gusto. If you want to experience the HD or the vanilla Desire then here at Mobile Phone Checker we have a stunning array of deals available from the top retailers so you can get the best price on your favourite smartphone.

This time last year, Samsung was already dominating the market but sales were still in favour of the iPhone 4. However, 2012’s first quarter has seen an increase of 42.5% on last year’s sales from the same time period making the firm the top smartphone producer in the world right now. The figures of that 42.5% increase were 101. 7 million last year and an astonishing 144.9 million from January to date.

To put that into perspective Apple sold 35.1 million handsets, most likely the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S although all Apple handsets are included in the figure, whereas Samsung sold 42.2 million smartphones. To give an even more realistic idea of how many are being sold, Samsung are selling One handset almost every second of the day! The growth mainly comes from Samsung bolstering its mid-range smartphone range of the Galaxy brand and increasing production on the larger tablet hybrids too. Almost all phones sold more than they did last year proving that it has the price point just right for all models.

However, Apple hit back with their own increase in sales from entering the Chinese marketplace. The iPhone 4S has been selling like hot wontons in China and there is no let-up either. With over 1 billion people to sell to there is likely to be an increase in the second and third quarter, before a boost of iPhone 5 sales towards the end of the year.

To give you an idea of what other smartphone manufacturers’ figures are, Nokia, which was once the company to beat in the mobile phone market had seen a 50.8% drop in sales – most likely all going to Samsung – selling only 11.9 million units. However, the Lumia 800 and Lumia 900 are set to invigorate its sales patterns in the second quarter. RIM, which makes BlackBerry phones, has seen almost a third of their sales drop by the wayside but 9. 7 million handsets is still quite good in such a vicious marketplace, although most of them would be corporate handsets but a sale is a sale!

For the underdogs, HTC, they came in fifth place for the first quarter of 2012 for sales. At 6.9 million handsets sold it seems a low figure for such stunning smartphones such as the One X and the rest of the One series, but it’s a figure that will surely increase over the year. Compared to last year, HTC sold 2.1 million less handsets so the firm will be hoping for a bounce back for the second and third quarter.

As many analysts and experts predicted it’s still a two-horse race between Samsung and Apple. The Galaxy range and the iPhone 4 handsets are still battling it out but as Apple has far less handsets and products than Samsung it’s a fantastic achievement for the iPhone fans and of course Apple as a company.

Whatever your new phone will be make sure you get the best price for your next contract by checking out Mobile Phone Checker.co.uk.

With Apple stunning the market with three million sales in three days of the launch of the iPhone 4S, there was never any doubt that the company had hit the jackpot with the new version of the flagship model. However, the piano black iPhone became so popular that even those elegant and smart looks became a little diluted since everyone had One. That’s where the brilliant marketing trick of tweaking the iPhone came into play, just as we’d seen with previous versions such as the iPhone 3G and iPhone 4, a white case was added.

Now we’ve seen white supercars hit the roads and showrooms for a few years, and it’s very much the ‘in’ colour that doesn’t seem to be waning in popularity. The white iPhone 4S 16GB is often thought as the top iPhone model as it’s smart, classy and is a little rarer than the black version. As white is a sign of purity, it adds a little more of an emotional connection to the smartphone owner rather than it just being a tool. Other phones are available in white but none seem to hit the mark as the 4S does. It’s why Apple’s phones are so popular as no One can really put their finger on why a white version of their glass-encased phone is lifted just that little higher up in the rankings compared to others, but it’s certainly true.

Of course, the iPhone 4S in white is just as good as the black One. The same innards are available which include the 8MP camera, front-facing camera for video calls, Siri voice activation, 1GHz dual core processor and the sublime iOS5. What’s great is the white iPhone 4S 16GB is available on PAYG SIM cards or on contract. You can see from browsing the Mobile Phone Checker website that all of the best networks are present and instead of hunting around the Internet or dealing with ‘in-your-face’ sales people you can see right there and then on the screen which network has the best contract deal for a white iPhone 4S.

In the UK, there is huge competition between the networks such as O2, Orange, Virgin and T-Mobile to battle for position in the marketplace. However, you’ll notice on the Mobile Phone Checker site that you can simply choose the best handset for your needs and preferences, then decide on the price that suits your budget.

Whatever iPhone 4S deals are out there right now, Mobile Phone Checker instantly brings them to your screen to make it easy. As you’re thinking about buying an iPhone 4S in white, you get to make the most of the 1080p HD video recording as well as the Incredible iMessage and iCloud capabilities. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are both available and thanks to the 1900mAh battery it lasts much longer than previous generations of iPhones.

You’re already sold on the stunning design and look of the iPhone 4S in white, aren’t you? So, all that is needed now is to make the numbers work for you and you can do that by checking out the best monthly contract deals on our site.
