LG G6 Information

The LG's G6 smartphone is its best handset yet, with a stunning 5.7 inch display and spectaculator dual-lens camera making it one of the more superior phones on the market.

Design

The handset is beautifully designed and made with glass and metal - it has a sleek chassis and a long and thin display. There's Gorilla Glass 3 on the front and Gorilla Glass 5 on the back, making it plenty strong if you were to drop it.

The front of the G6 looks very modern thanks to the rounded corners of the screen. Combined with that and the Gorilla Glass, it helps absorb impacts and lessens the likelihood of catastrophic screen damage.

The fingerprint sensor is on the back of the phone and the front of the handset is taken up almost entirely by the display (around 85% screen-to-bezel ratio), which gives the phone a quality feel and is far more robust than the plasticky G5.

LG has also removed all unnecessary buttons and bulges which make the device look sleek and minimalistic.

All this, means that the G6 fits comfortably in the palm, and is a pleasure to use with one hand.

The G6 is available in a variety of colours including black, white and metallic blue.

Display

Measuring 5.7 inches and boasting an impressive 2,880 x 1,440 pixel resolution, a 5.7 inch QHD+ FullVision display - G6 which provides a brilliant viewing experience with super impressive display specs.

Thanks to the almost bezel-free screen, you get a much larger display on a handset, while the phone is physically smaller than the G5.

Impressively, the G6 also offers Dolby Vision which makes the display significantly brighter with better light-to-dark contrast. This technology which has only previously been seen on televisions, and is designed to make the image more lifelike with better colours, more accurate contrast levels and wider viewing angles.

Camera

The dual camera on the G6 is super impressive with a variety of functions meaning you can take all sorts of technically complex shots (or just brilliant selfies).

The handset pairs a standard angle 16 megapixel sensor and a 5 megapixel 125-degree wide angle lens alongside the LED flash, which provides budding photographers a whole new host of options, allowing you to create some truly professional looking shots.

The wide angle lens is great for capturing big scenes, venues or landscapes, while the standard lens is best for more focussed, detailed shots.

The auto HDF mode, which adds less than half a second to the processing time, ensures all the colours and details are balanced.

LG makes it incredibly easy to swap between the standard 16MP camera, which captures photographs with crisp detail and pleasantly vivid colours, and the wide-angle set-up.

LG's Square Camera that's the most interesting and a great addition to the phone. It splits the screen in two, with the top half for square format pictures and the lower half for previews or custom shots.

If selfies are your thing, the G6's front facing camera, a 5MP setup, has 100 degree wide angle lens as well, meaning you can fit a lot of into the shot (perfect or big group shots) and produces better overall results.

LG also lets you use the wide-angle view to record too.

Battery life

The LG G6 has a pretty powerful, containing a hefty 3,300mAh battery (which in this handset is not removable), which is considerable bigger than last year's G5's 2,800mAh battery.

With heavy use, your handset should last all day without needing charge, however if things do run low it can be boosted quickly via the supplied fast charging USB-C cable.

Speed and Processor

Powering the LG G6 is last year's Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. The G6 has plenty of power and the average user shouldn't notice any issues browsing the web. It's quick and can handle a lot of interchanging app use.

In regards to internal storage, the LG G6 has either 32GV or 64GB space which can be expanded to a 2TB via microSD card if you need more room for pictures, videos and apps.

The handset is also fully dust and water resistant.

Software

The software inside the LG G6 is pretty customisable. You can switch the theme around, change the look and feel of the icons, and tweak it as much as you like.

However, there is a lot of bloatware on this phone, with plenty of applications taking up space. You'll need delete them or hiding away into folders.

LG has contained the G6 with Android Nougat, so you're running the latest build. This means you have all the latest tweaks, optimisations and security features.

The G6 is ideally suited to multi window app use, providing a perfect square for two apps to live in, and it's easy to activate using a long press of the Android menu key.
